ClimaChain

A forecasting dashboard hosted on a web platform

Case snapshot

Problem
Retailers struggled to anticipate demand fluctuations caused by changing climate conditions, leading to stockouts, missed sales opportunities, and inefficient inventory planning.
Solution
We created a climate-intelligence dashboard that combined forecasts, historical trends, and location-based insights into a single workspace, helping businesses proactively plan inventory and respond to demand shifts.
Role
As the Product Designer, I led the end-to-end design process. From research and competitive analysis to information architecture, dashboard design, prototyping, and developer handoff.
Outcome
Customers achieved up to 4× ROI, 2× sales growth, 20% higher forecast accuracy, 10% category share improvement, and 50% fewer stockouts.

Product overview

Transforming climate data into actionable insights for industries. A forecasting tool that can be leveraged to view the climate and analyse upcoming demand, and stock up on inventory so that users don’t miss out on sales opportunities.

My research understanding

Why do we need the product?

Climate is changing. We make it predictable. There's no tool that helps pharmaceutical companies with using climate data to predict demand.

What should the product do?

A simplified dashboard for businesses to help predict demand of their products and manage inventory efficiently by leveraging climate data.

Who are we helping?

Sales and marketing teams at the pharmaceutical companies.

Goals we set for oursleves

Streamlining Routine Workflows

Simplified complex and repetitive tasks through intuitive workflow design, reducing friction and enabling users to complete actions more efficiently.

Enhancing Data Interpretability

Reframed complex data structures into clear, actionable visualizations, making insights easier to scan, understand, and act upon while minimizing information overload.

Designing with Domain Context

Leverage industry knowledge and user insights to create meaningful experiences that reduce learning curves and improve product adoption.

Expanding Product Scalability

Design the product to support a broader range of industries, reducing reliance on a single market segment and enabling future growth opportunities.

Diving in deep with research and insights

Lack of confidence in how user's data is used

High cognitive load due to dense information

Tool was perceived as complex and intimidating

Exporting multiple reports created unnecessary effort

Repetitive file uploads led to workflow inefficiency

Filtering did not solve the overwhelm caused by large datasets

Lack of confidence in how user's data is used

Finding
Users were sceptical about how their data would be stored and accessed within the platform.
Outcome
We introduced transparency measures - making accuracy visible, clearly showing data lineage, and explaining how each metric is derived. To build trust and reinforce product credibility.

High cognitive load due to dense information

Finding
Users struggled to make sense of large quantities of data presented at once.
Outcome
We simplified data consumption through thoughtful visualisation, prioritisation, and contextual grouping to reduce cognitive overload.

Tool was perceived as complex and intimidating

Finding
Users found it difficult to navigate the product and locate key tasks.
Outcome
We designed guided onboarding, contextual help, and progressive disclosure so users could understand the platform without friction.

Exporting multiple reports created unnecessary effort

Finding
Users treated all reports as important, but exporting each individually took time and increased operational burden.
Outcome
We introduced a unified export hub, enabling multi-report downloads from one place and reducing repetitive actions.

Repetitive file uploads led to workflow inefficiency

Finding
Different reports required combinations of the same uploaded files, forcing users to re-upload multiple times.
Outcome
We consolidated the uploads into a single hub, enabling reuse of files across multiple report types.

Filtering did not solve the overwhelm caused by large datasets

Finding
Users felt overloaded by extensive table-level details and relied on applying broad filters repeatedly, suggesting that filtering alone was insufficient.
Outcome
Introduced segmentation to help users organise data meaningfully. Users can now create personalised segments using complex logic , allowing them to focus on relevant subsets of data without repeatedly filtering.

Helping PM's visualise with ease

We evaluated the need and relevance of each requirement with clarifying questions, ensuring alignment with user goals.

Building on that understanding, we translated the concept into high-fidelity flows and screens, applying usability heuristics and selecting the most effective visual format for the data being presented.

Design impact

Improved decision-making speed

By clearly visualizing climate trends and demand insights, users could make faster, more confident stocking decisions.

Better data trust → more adoption

Made accuracy transparent, contributing to higher trust and sustained return usage.

Unified hubs reduced repetitive tasks

Reduced repetitive actions such as individual exports and multiple uploads, improving operational efficiency for stakeholders.

Better onboarding, fewer user drop-offs

Designed contextual onboarding and guided walkthroughs, reducing dependency on product managers for explaining workflows.

Reduced Cognitive Load Through Data Visualization

Simplified complex datasets using visual hierarchy and modular layouts, enabling faster insights and actions.

If you like what you see, let's get in touch.

Let the conversations flow, and bloom.
